I continue to feel like 2021 is welcoming us.
You know, at the end of 2020, I felt extremely hopeful for the new year. I made the artwork above with enthusiasm and, well, actually a lot of joy. The whole idea of 2021 welcoming us with open arms was so wonderful, I just kind of melted into the idea.
But then...
After the events of January 6th, it's been...just a little....harder to see that pin-prick of light at the end of the tunnel. I'm appalled at the attempted assassination of our democracy and the blatant and violent racism that paraded alongside it. I won't say too much more. I think everything I feel has already been expressed through endless channels, and if you've made it this far, you probably agree with my sentiments. But all of this on top of a pandemic that aaaabsolutely rages on...it's like, wow, ok! 2021 for the win? Wtf. Ugh.
But you know what? It's ok. Well I mean it's not, but...I'm not going to let anything stop me from getting back to business. At least not permanently. 2021 still feels fresh and new. There's always tomorrow, and as Lucy Maude Montgomery once said:
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it...yet.
